Disordered Eating & Body Image Support in Brisbane

Your relationship with food and your body can take up a lot of space in your mind. At Nourished Psychology in Stafford, Brisbane (and online across Australia), I offer gentle, non-judgemental support for people whose thoughts and feelings about eating and body image have become hard to carry.

You don’t need to be “unwell enough” to ask for help. If food or your body feels like a constant source of stress, that’s reason enough.

Does this sound like you?

  • Food and body thoughts take up more headspace than you’d like

  • You feel stuck in cycles of restricting, bingeing or emotional eating

  • Eating leaves you feeling guilty, ashamed or out of control

  • You avoid social events, photos or certain foods

  • You feel at war with your body

  • You’ve tried to “fix” things on your own and feel exhausted by it

  • You’re a parent worried about your teen’s relationship with food

Our approach: weight-inclusive and body-neutral

Therapy here isn’t about food rules, weight goals or “fixing” your body. Our work is weight-inclusive, which means all bodies are welcome and your worth isn’t measured by a number.

Together we might:

  • Make sense of what’s keeping the cycle going

  • Build a kinder, steadier relationship with food and your body

  • Practise coping with big feelings in ways that feel safe

  • Explore body neutrality when body love feels out of reach

  • Move at your pace, with no pressure and no judgement

It’s often about more than food

Struggles with eating are rarely just about food. They can be tied to stress, perfectionism, big life changes or the need to feel in control. [Read: Why Disordered Eating Isn’t About Food (And What It’s Really About)]

Support for teens and parents

I work with young people aged 12 and over, and I’m happy to speak with parents who are worried. Sessions with teens are warm, respectful and paced to what feels safe for them.

Working alongside your team

Support for eating and body image often works best as a team effort. I’m happy to work alongside your GP, dietitian or other health professionals where that’s helpful for you.

What to expect

We start with a free 15-minute chat to see if we’re a good fit. Sessions are available in person in Stafford or online. Initial appointments are $255 and ongoing appointments are $235. A Mental Health Care Plan or private health cover may give you a rebate.

No. You deserve support whether things feel mild, confusing or overwhelming.

No. My work is weight-inclusive. I don’t set weight goals or food rules. If you’d like input from a dietitian, I’m happy to work alongside one.

Do you work with teens?
Yes. I see young people aged 12 and over, and I’m happy to talk with parents first.

Can we do sessions online?
Yes. Telehealth is available across Australia.
